Club Runs for 2020

Due to "you know what", 2020 has been a very tough year for the club. The QLD club's opportunity to host the 8th National Reunion was decimated by COVID. The rest of the runs for the year have also been taken a hit as well. However, whilst this year has been tough for us, we also feel for our friends in the Victorian Clubs have had it much worse. We hope you're able to get back on the road safe and sound in the very near future.

Run #1

We were able to get our first run of the year organised and completed (yay!!) in Gympie. As usual Gympie and the surrounding towns served up some awesome sights and sounds. After a lovely morning tea at the gold mining museum cafe, we went the Gympie Bone Museum. They were moving from their old building to a new building but it wasn't yet finished so we caught them mid move and went on the tour of the interim setup. Next up was a trip out to Lindols Macadamia Nut farm for some lunch. After an overnight stay we had our meeting and morning tea at the Gold Mining Museum then we headed off to Kandanga for a great lunch at the rebuilt Kandanga Hotel and a look through the info centre.

Run #2

Our second run was planned around an overnight stay in Dalby with a view to visiting some local Western Downs attractions. We met some of the northern crew at Woodford on our way Esk and from there on to Crows Nest where 2 of our members from Stanthorpe met us. After the overnight in Crows Nest it was off to Toowoomba for morning tea with Kim L'Estrange who always puts on a great spread. Kim then accompanied us to Scotty's Garage where we had some lunch and a look through Scotty's Barn with some amazing automotive artefacts and a fantastic 50's style diner called Tbird Diner, providing many a trip down memory lane for our members. Next it was off to Dalby. On the way to Dalby for an overnight stay, we stopped for a walk around the fascinating Army Air Museum which was a huge hit with members. We had a nice dinner at the pub and were early to bed for our trip the next day to the Bunya Mountains via Kainkillenbun for a photo at the quirky pub there. The trip up to Bunya Mountains was a beautiful winding and very narrow road which was really no challenge for the Valiants. The reward for that difficult part of the trip was the view from the lookout at the top of the range, it was breathtaking. After holding the meeting on top of the mountain, we headed to Kingaroy for lunch at the RSL and then headed back home.
